Talk to US addresses a critical problem: US policies impact the whole
world, but non-Americans have few ways to communicate directly with
mainstream America. The international voices Americans do hear often
represent only the extremes -- not ordinary people from around the
world.
Talk to US is changing this by gathering and distributing 30 second
video messages from people around the world.
Talk to US is both timely-- it aims to play a vital role ahead of the
November 2004 election in raising the level of discussion within the
United States over the American role in and impact on the rest of the
world; and timeless -- because promoting individual dialogue across
borders is a long-term proposition.
Talk to US will:
- Engage, educate and better prepare Americans to make informed
decisions on personal choices that impact people in communities around
the world
- Build greater global goodwill
- Create an engaged global citizenry that will result in proactive
and respectful interaction
Gathering Voices
Talk to US welcomes people from around the world who want to
participate to upload their video directly to the Talk to US website
or mail the video to the US. All videos will be available for
streaming from this website.
Talk to US is working with individuals and in-country film crews to
gather the voices of people from different economic classes, religious
groups, ethnicities, professions and regions, particularly in areas
affected by the digital divide.
